Hybrid Solar Lighting System.
Exploring practical, modular lighting with sustainable energy and a team-led design approach. Nominated for the James Dyson Award 2021.
The problem
Sustainable lighting calls for solutions that connect energy engineering with real-world implementation.
My contribution
I led a five-member team in developing the hybrid solar lighting concept at Monash University Malaysia, using TRIZ and the Kanawa-Tsugi concept to guide the design.
The outcome
The project was nominated for the James Dyson Award 2021 and featured by Springwise. It was selected for Youth Sustainable Energy Hub Cohort 4 in August 2026. The public initiative listing describes testing and prototyping.
Scope & status
Recognition describes the project and selection record; it does not imply commercial deployment.
